John Brigham Scholarship

Vance-Granville Community College President Robert A. Miller shows Lelia Brigham of Henderson the type of plaque that will be hung in the college Board Room to commemorate the scholarship she has established with a $6,000 gift to the VGCC Endowment Fund and Scholarship Program in memory of her husband, John Brigham. The first John Brigham Memorial Academic Achievement Scholarship of $500 will be presented in September to a GED student who is continuing his or her education at Vance-Granville. Lelia Brigham is a painter and sculptor who has taught Continuing Education art classes at Vance-Granville Community College since the school was begun as Vance County Technical Institute in 1969.
