Guided Painting class starts Jan. 19 at VGCC Franklin Campus

Vance-Granville Community College’s Franklin County Campus will offer a new art class, called “Guided Painting,” on Thursday afternoons from 1–4 p.m., Jan. 19 through April 27.

This class will be taught by Theresa Brown of Franklinton, a professional artist and art teacher whose work has been featured in “Our State” magazine, and who has over a thousand portraits displayed in homes and businesses around the globe.

In each class, students will create a work of art using their favorite media (acrylic, water color, oil or pastel) as they follow guidance from Brown. “This is a favorite style of learning for students new to art, as well as those hoping to enhance their skills,” according to VGCC Personal Enrichment coordinator Gail Clark. “Each class allows ample time to complete a new piece each week.”

The 14-week class includes a total of 42 hours of instruction.

The cost of the course is $100. Students need to supply their own materials, including paper or canvas, brushes and media.

The deadline to register is Jan. 15. Registration can be completed online at www.vgcc.edu/schedules/personal-enrichment or at any VGCC campus. For more information, contact Gail Clark at (252) 738-3385 or ped@vgcc.edu .
