Computer Lab Gets Upgrade At VGCC Warren Campus

Vance-Granville Community College is upgrading both hardware and software in the computer lab at its Warren County Campus to better serve the students taking courses there.

The 17 computers in the Human Resources Development lab are getting more memory and upgraded hard drives and operating systems. This will improve the performance of the computers and help students improve their performance and get experience with newer systems, said Ken Lewis, VGCC’s director of Information Technology.

The lab is used for Human Resources Development classes that teach computer fundamentals to unemployed, underemployed and those who need upgraded skills to keep a job. Computer Center continuing education classes are also taught in the HRD lab.

New software being installed in the lab will allow instruction in Word 2000 and Windows 98 in Computer Center fall classes. In addition to two sections of Windows and Word Processing, two Internet courses, an Access and an Excel course, and an Integrated Software course are offered by the Computer Center this fall at the Warren County Campus.

For details on these courses, interested persons should check the Fall Issue of VGCC Arches, pick up a copy of the Computer Center schedule from the Warren County Campus, or call Jennifer Allen at (252) 492-2061.
