Black History Program To Be Held In February

Vance-Granville Community College’s Division of Workforce Development will sponsor a Black History Month program on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 9 p.m. in the Civic Center on Main Campus.

A variety of culturally-oriented products, artifacts and paintings will be on display by various vendors and collectors from 4-6 p.m. These include soaps, scented oils, incense and other products, artifacts, couch bags, artwork and paintings, scrapbooks, ceramics, sculptures, books, scarves, body creams and oils.

From 6 to 9 p.m., a program with a variety of entertainment will be held, including Delamar Rackard reading excerpts from Dr. Martin Luther King’s speeches, Gospel artist Mary Williams, African dancers and a steel drum band.

Keynote speaker for the evening will be Barry Saunders, a columnist from Raleigh’s News and Observer.

Students, faculty, staff and the general public are invited to attend this free event.
