Area Invited To Check Out Businesses Have Chance To Win $$$ At EXPO ’03

The Civic Center at Vance-Granville Community College will be the place to be on Tuesday, Oct. 14, as the 14th annual business trade show – EXPO – will be held.

Area citizens are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to see the products and services offered by about 70 businesses and agencies, all in one place under one roof. People can browse through the booths and talk to the business owners and operators. Some will even be taking orders on the spot.

This year’s EXPO will feature several new twists or, as organizers say, “A great opportunity just got better.” Hours of the event have been expanded, and it will last from 1 to 7 p.m. The final two hours will feature a “Business After Hours” in which numerous area business operators not exhibiting in EXPO are expected to be present.

Also, this year the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce returns as one of the event’s organizers after several years’ absence. The Franklin chamber will join the Henderson-Vance County and Granville County chambers and the VGCC Small Business Center in putting on EXPO ’03. Organizers expect this to bring an even wider range of exhibitors to this year’s event.

Visitors to EXPO will have the opportunity to win numerous door prizes given by the vendors. And someone attending the trade show will win a $1,000 cash prize through a drawing.

Several area businesses sign on as sponsors each year of EXPO, helping to assure its success. Gold Sponsors for 2003 are Wake Electric, WIZS 1450 Radio, The Butner-Creedmoor News, The Daily Dispatch, Oxford Public-Ledge, and WICE 98.3 Radio. Silver Sponsors this year are ServPro, Southside Office Supply, NCOL, Warren County Economic Development and The Franklin Times.

President Robert F. Miller of Vance-Granville Community College said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome EXPO to our campus again. This is a great opportunity for people to see a lot of businesses, their products and services in one place.

“While you’re here for EXPO, we hope you will take time to look around our campus,” Miller added. “We are very proud of this school, and we want you to be proud of it, too.”
