Finish Line Grants
Finish Line Grants are grants of up to $1,000 (limited by Cost Of Attendance) awarded to community college students who have completed at least 25% of their program and are faced with an unanticipated financial hardship that may prevent them from continuing their education. Too often, financial emergencies like unexpected healthcare costs, childcare expenses, or car breakdowns prevent students from completing their programs. Finish Line Grants are awarded to students facing these unforeseen challenges. They can be used for rental housing, utilities, medical needs, dependent care, or other financial hardships that students face through no fault of their own.
Eligibility:
- Enrolled in an NC Community College
- GPA is a 2.0 or higher (curriculum), for Workforce Development (2.0 if ever attended curriculum or a majority of Satisfactory classes)
- Completed at least 25% of the student’s program
- Complete the FAFSA and eligibility requirements
- SAI (Student Aid Index) is below COA (Cost of Attendance) based on enrollment
Restrictions:
- unexpected financial hardship within the prior 30 days of the date of application.

Finish Line Grants cannot cover:
- any asset payments (laptops, cell phones, mortgages, car payments, etc.)
- tax payments
- Regular car service (oil change, inspection, etc.)
- court fees
- penalties and late fees
- past due amounts or bills with prior balances due
- recurring/revolving payments
- food
