What will the CAMAT be?
Vance-Granville Community College (VGCC) is planning the design and construction of a 36,000 Gross Square Foot Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Applied Technology (CAMAT). This building will be a state-of-the-art training facility in Granville County that will offer traditional certificates, diploma, and degree options, as well as relevant short-term training opportunities, for students seeking training in Electronics, Fabrication, HVAC, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, and Welding programs.
The Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Applied Technology will serve as a dynamic and adaptable environment that fosters student, faculty and industry engagement, evolves with advancements in technology, and supports pedagogy growth focused on workforce development.
The Center Will:
- Support industry training needs in advanced manufacturing and applied technologies.
- Serve as an advanced manufacturing company recruitment benefit, and
- Support collaborative high school and college career and technical education partnerships.
Key Milestone Dates
- Basic Services begin – March 2025
- Basic Services complete – November 2025
- Bidding – Spring 2026
- Construction begins – April/May 2026
- Construction complete – July 2027
- Occupancy – August 2027

All final decisions on naming opportunities, unless otherwise provided for, are at the sole discretion of the Board of Trustees, as outlined in related policy.
