Transfer Agreement Signed with Michigan’s Northwood University

Central North Carolina and mid-Michigan are closer than ever, following a new transfer agreement between Vance-Granville Community College and Northwood University. Representatives of the two institutions met at VGCC’s Main Campus on Thursday, August 7, to make their new partnership official.

Partnership Details

Largely business-focused, Northwood offers a new range of possibilities to Vanguards interested in fields like entrepreneurship, technology, finance, management, and emerging industries like esports management. The agreement is designed so students who earn an associate degree from Vance-Granville can transfer to Northwood without fear of losing credits to pursue a bachelor degree in a major offered at Northwood University’s in-person campus or online.

Under the agreement, two options are available to Vance-Granville Community College students:

  1. Successfully complete an associate degree at VGCC and then transfer as a junior to Northwood University, or
  2. Attend a third year at VGCC and then enter Northwood as a senior under specific 3+1 programs.

“Through this agreement, we are removing barriers to degree completion so students can receive full credit for their work at Vance-Granville and complete their bachelor degrees at Northwood University,” stated Dr. Kristin Stehouwer, NU Provost and Academic Vice President. “We look forward to welcoming Vance-Granville students into our community of students, faculty, and staff dedicated to an institutional philosophy…of individual freedom, personal responsibility, ethics, earned success, and entrepreneurship.”
