Introducing NC College Connect

|
News

Have a high school senior in your life? If they’re a public high school senior with a weighted GPA of 2.8 or above, they are eligible for the new NC College Connect program.

NC College Connect provides a new way for high school seniors to apply to their local community college and participating UNC System universities, including:

  • Elizabeth City State University
  • Fayetteville State University
  • University of North Carolina Asheville
  • University of North Carolina at Greensboro
  • University of North Carolina at Pembroke
  • Winston-Salem State University
  • Vance-Granville and other NCCCS community colleges

How does it work?

Eligible students will receive an official letter in the mail for the 2025-2026 academic year in October 2024. This letter will direct them to the NC College Connect application portal. (High schools will have a list of eligible students that counselors can reference to support those whose offer letters may have been lost in the mail or misplaced.)

From there, students will see a complete list of institutions where they can claim their spot by completing a guided application for each college or university. These select North Carolina colleges and universities are holding spots for eligible students. That’s right—a streamlined process that gets students where they want to be!

CFNC encourages students to apply during College Application Week (October 21-27, 2024), part of its month-long NC Countdown to College.

Please note that official letters and communications about the NC College Connect program will come from the College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) rather than Vance-Granville Community College. To learn more about this program, please visit CFNC.org.
