News, Program News, Student News

Vance-Granville Community College proudly recognized Moriah Hall during its 2025 Medical Assisting Diploma Program Pinning Ceremony, held at the College’s Main Campus Civic Center in Henderson, North Carolina.

Moriah is not only a trailblazer—she is the beginning of a new legacy at VGCC’s School of Health Sciences Medical Assisting Program.

Moriah made history as the first student to enroll in and graduate from the Medical Assisting program through the Career & College Promise (CCP) pathway: a dual-enrollment opportunity that allows high school students to earn college credit toward workforce credentials. Her achievement marks a major milestone for the program and opens the door for future CCP students with aspirations in healthcare.

At the July ceremony, Moriah received with two major awards:

  • The Trailblazer Award, recognizing her distinction as the first CCP student in the program.
  • The Academic Achievement Award, for earning the highest GPA in the graduating class and demonstrating consistent excellence in academics, skills, and professionalism.

Moriah, a resident of Franklin County, is already continuing her academic journey. She has been accepted into and enrolled in VGCC’s Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Medical Assisting degree program as of fall 2025, with plans to ultimately pursue a career in pharmacy.

Her favorite quote, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world,” captures her purpose-driven mindset. Moriah’s success represents more than a personal achievement—it is a testament to the power of preparation, access, and possibility through early college pathways.

About Career & College Promise

Career & College Promise offers high school students tuition-free college course credits. With these credits, students can earn an associate degree, transfer to a four-year institution, attain career credentials, or achieve a combination of these outcomes before completing high school.

Qualifying high school juniors and seniors may dual-enroll at VGCC while remaining at their current school/homeschool. They may also enroll in an early college high school: a Cooperative Innovative High School located on or near each of Vance-Granville’s four campuses. For more information about CCP options, including enrollment form deadlines, visit www.vgcc.edu/high-school.
