Want to Work in Healthcare?
Not every healthcare career takes place in an exam room. Medical office professionals help keep physician practices, hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare organizations running smoothly by managing patient records, coordinating appointments, processing insurance claims, and communicating with patients.
VGCC’s Medical Office Administration program is offered 100% online and includes both certificate and degree options. Students can choose between General and Medical Billing & Coding concentrations, building skills in medical terminology, electronic health records, healthcare communication, insurance procedures, and industry-standard coding systems. Whether you’re interested in working at the front desk of a medical practice or pursuing a specialized role in medical billing and coding, the program offers flexible preparation for a variety of healthcare support careers.
Interested in Public Service?
For those interested in a career in law enforcement, corrections, public safety, or another area of the criminal justice system, VGCC’s new Criminal Justice Operations Certificate provides a focused introduction to the field that can be completed in just two semesters.
Beginning this fall, the certificate will be available in a hybrid format at the VGCC Warren Campus or fully online, offering flexibility for students with work and family commitments. The four-course certificate is fully transferable to North Carolina public universities and aligns with articulation agreements with East Carolina University, NC Central University, and Northwood University. Students who complete the certificate may also continue seamlessly into VGCC’s Criminal Justice Technology Associate in Applied Science degree.

Called to Help Families?
Funeral service is a profession centered on compassion, professionalism, and helping families navigate one of life’s most difficult moments. As many experienced funeral directors approach retirement, communities in our region and across the country are experiencing a crucial need for trained professionals to serve families with care and dignity.
Through a partnership between Vance-Granville Community College and Fayetteville Technical Community College, students can complete their general education coursework at VGCC before transferring into FTCC’s Funeral Service Education program. Much of the specialized coursework is offered online, while certain hands-on lab experiences and work-based learning requirements are completed at FTCC or through a local funeral home. The partnership makes this specialized career pathway more accessible for students in Franklin, Granville, Vance, and Warren counties.
Thinking About Teaching?
For those who aspire to make a difference in the classroom, VGCC’s Teacher Preparation program offers an affordable first step toward becoming a licensed elementary, middle school, high school, or special education teacher.
Students can choose between the Associate in Arts in Teacher Preparation for those planning to teach humanities or social science subjects, or the Associate in Science in Teacher Preparation for future STEM educators. After completing 60 credit hours of transferable coursework at VGCC, students may transfer as juniors to one of the University of North Carolina System’s participating institutions or to many private colleges and universities across the state, provided they meet each institution’s admission requirements.
