Cosmetology students prepare to represent VGCC in statewide SkillsUSA competition

Six Cosmetology students will represent VGCC at an upcoming SkillsUSA competition

On Thursday, October 12, the Vance-Granville Community College Cosmetology program held an in-house competition to determine who would represent VGCC at the SkillsUSA competition at the 2023 North Carolina State Fair. Out of 27 entries, six were selected to represent VGCC on Saturday, October 21. If you are at the NC State Fair this Saturday, please swing by and support our students!

The following Cosmetology students will represent VGCC at this year’s competition:

  • Advanced Students: Isleth Rebollar and Cordeja Thomas
  • Beginner Students: Alexis Perry, Kailani Rivera, Bianca Spies, and Taylor Sullivan

…and a Vanguard takes the gold! Taylor Sullivan was named the SkillsUSA Cosmetology competition winner at the 2023 NC State Fair when her stunning peacock-themed entry wowed the judges and spectators alike. Taylor is a first-year Cosmetology student at VGCC’s Franklin Campus. Congratulations to our champion and the other five VGCC Cosmetology students who entered this year’s competition!
