Tickets Now on Sale for VGCC Drama’s Production of ‘The Thanksgiving Play’
Tickets are now on sale for VGCC Drama’s production of “The Thanksgiving Play.” Written by Indigenous playwright and MacArthur Fellow Larissa FastHorse, this wickedly funny satire takes aim at political correctness, performative allyship, and the way we tell ourselves the story of America’s most familiar holiday. It is one of the most-produced plays in the country, and it will make you laugh, wince, and see Thanksgiving a little differently.

More about The Thanksgiving Play
A drama teacher, three actors, one very awkward Thanksgiving pageant. Larissa FastHorse’s comedy skewers good intentions gone wrong.
A high school drama teacher is determined to save her career. She wins grants to create the most culturally sensitive Thanksgiving pageant her school has ever seen, and she assembles a well-meaning team to devise it: her yoga-instructor boyfriend, an elementary school teacher, and a professional actress. But as good intentions collide with absurd assumptions, the pageant that was supposed to honor both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month quickly goes off the rails.
- Time Period: Contemporary
- Setting: A high school drama classroom
- Features: Sharp satire, small ensemble cast
- Duration: ~90 minutes
