|
News

Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt will visit Vance-Granville Community College’s South Campus in Creedmoor on Tuesday, March 31, for the 13th stop of her Future-Ready Community College Tour. During the visit, the Lieutenant Governor will meet with representatives from community industry partners including Altec, Ontic, and Sunrock, in addition to local elected leaders and economic developers. Students from the College’s Culinary Arts program will showcase their skills by cohosting the roundtable meeting. The Lieutenant Governor will then visit the mechatronics, electronics, and entrepreneurship labs in session. Weather permitting, she will also observe the drone program’s capabilities.

“We are excited to showcase South Campus programs in advanced manufacturing, skilled trades, and entrepreneurship as they align with the Lieutenant Governor’s vision for a ‘Future-Ready North Carolina,’” said Vance-Granville President Dr. Rachel Desmarais. “Our mutually beneficial industry partnerships in education and skills training are key to creating and sustaining a future-ready workforce in strong, vibrant communities.”

Lieutenant Governor Hunt’s policy platform, Future-Ready North Carolina, champions investments in childcare and early childhood education and workforce development, in part through North Carolina’s community colleges. As a member of both the State Board of Education and the State Board of Community Colleges, the Lieutenant Governor will also emphasize Career and College-Ready Graduate programs.

The North Carolina Community College System includes 58 institutions dedicated to educating the leaders of tomorrow by providing affordable college courses and programs to anyone across the state. From animals and the environment to trades and mechanics, these schools offer entry-level programs across dozens of industries and provide continuing education to those interested in strengthening their skills in specific areas.
