Vance-Granville Community College congratulates Ashley Pendergrass and John Paschall for completing their Information Technology Specialist apprenticeships. They recently received certificates to mark the accomplishment, presented by Grants Administrator Ken Wilson and Vice President Dr. Chris Pearce. The two Vanguard Apprenticeship collaborative apprentices earned both the state apprenticeship credential and DOL journeyworker credential.

Ashley Pendergrass

Ashley Pendergrass began her VGCC journey as an Early College student with a passion for learning and a keen interest in digital media. She first joined the College’s staff in a part-time library position. Ashley’s dedication to her studies and commitment to professional growth led her to pursue a master’s degree in library science, which she recently completed alongside her webmaster apprenticeship. Recognizing Ashley’s potential, VGCC supported her aspirations to work with digital media. She has now stepped into the role of webmaster. Ashley’s expertise in digital content management and her innovative approach to web design are invaluable assets to our community, ensuring our online presence remains dynamic and accessible.

John Paschall

John Paschall’s journey to becoming a vital member of VGCC’s IT department began as a student seeking practical experience in the tech field. With a strong foundation from his time at VGCC, John was eager to apply his skills in a real-world setting. His apprenticeship in the IT division allowed him to gain hands-on experience. His hard work and dedication have now earned him a full-time role as a computer services technician. In this role, John provides essential support to our faculty and students, ensuring that our technology systems run smoothly and efficiently. His contributions are crucial to the success of our academic community.

Apprenticeships with VGCC

Vance-Granville Community College set up the Vanguard Apprenticeship collaborative to facilitate apprenticeships for itself and its partners.
