When your service area is as large as the state of Rhode Island, local learners with limited transportation could have a difficult time traveling to campus and meeting Admissions staff face-to-face—but during the 2023-2024 academic year, the enrollment process got a lot more convenient for potential VGCC students!
After Vance-Granville received a donated bus from local partner KARTS (Kerr Area Transportation Authority) in late 2023, a team of VGCC staff started dreaming big and working hard to turn the vehicle into something special. On April 9, 2024, the College officially unveiled the newly renovated VGCC On-the-Go Bus!
This mobile office empowers College faculty and staff to meet future students where they are, literally. Now it’s easier than ever for Admissions staff and other College representatives to head into the community and provide our neighbors with the tools they need to achieve their educational and career goals. To make it even better, guests can help themselves to a snack during their visit!
This is not the first time Vance-Granville and KARTS have teamed up to make a college education more accessible. Since January 2020, the two have partnered to provide students with rides to and from the College’s four campuses. Through grant funds and donations to The VGCC Foundation, these rides are provided at no cost to the student.
