Watch our Food Pantry Grow

|
News

Something new has sprung up at the Vance-Granville Community College Henderson campus recently!

The VGCC Foundation welcomes the addition of a new vegetable garden this year, which provides fresh produce to supplement the nonperishable items on our food pantry shelves. Under the diligent care of VGCCF Food Pantry Assistant Angie Douglas, the garden has yielded a bountiful harvest of tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, greens, and more.

This endeavor became possible with the support of Swipe Out Hunger, the leading nonprofit addressing hunger among college students. The College officially became a Swipe Out Hunger partner in January 2024, when the organization awarded The VGCC Foundation a $6,000 grant to help combat food insecurity through healthy food and snack options.

The VGCCF food pantry provides quality foods such as meats, baking goods, and vegetables to current students and employees experiencing food insecurity. Other helpful products such as toiletries and household items may also be available. To learn more, contact (252) 738-3323 or vgccfoodpantry@vgcc.edu.

About The Vance-Granville Community College Foundation

The VGCC Foundation (VGCCF) offers over 300 endowments for Vance-Granville students, more endowed scholarships than any other program of its kind in North Carolina. In addition to providing scholarships and emergency assistance to deserving students, VGCCF supports a broad range of special projects involving education, training, and economic development in our community.

Numerous individuals, industries, businesses, civic groups, and churches have endowed scholarships, as well as the College’s faculty and staff. Tax-deductible donations to VGCCF have often been used to honor a person, group, business, or industry with a lasting gift to education.
