School Resource Officer
This course is designed to provide the student with information regarding the School Resource Officer (SRO) concept and the skills necessary to help reduce the occurrence of juvenile delinquency and crime through early intervention in the schools.

“School Resource Officers (SROs) have a unique opportunity to strategically fit in the changing world of law enforcement and contemporary policing strategies. School resource officers are prime examples of community-oriented policing, and thus, experience challenges, rewards, and accolades that patrol officers do not.” SRO programs are collaborative efforts by police agencies, law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents, and communities with goals of providing safe learning environments, valuable resources to school staff,
fostering positive relationships with youth and developing strategies to resolve problems affecting our youth.
