The Vance-Granville Community College Foundation’s Building Futures initiative continues to gain meaningful momentum as we work to transform workforce training opportunities across our four-county service region. Spanning Vance, Granville, Franklin, and Warren counties, this comprehensive regional initiative supports the development of two state-of-the-art training facilities designed to meet critical workforce demands and fuel economic growth.
The Center for Advanced Manufacturing & Applied Technology (CAMAT), located in Oxford, Granville County, will provide hands-on training in high-demand fields such as welding, HVAC, electrical systems, mechatronics, and advanced manufacturing. This facility is essential to supporting the region’s growing industrial base and ensuring that local employers have access to a highly skilled workforce.
Complementing this effort is the Transportation Training & Technology Center (TTTC) in Warren County’s Soul City area. This facility will prepare students for careers in commercial driving, diesel and heavy equipment mechanics, and heavy equipment operation—industries that are vital to the infrastructure and logistics sectors throughout our region.
Together, these two centers represent a strategic investment in workforce development, economic mobility, and regional sustainability. They will expand access to high-quality training, increase earning potential for students, and strengthen the talent pipeline for local industries.
Celebrating Community Support
The VGCC Foundation is excited to share a significant milestone in our fundraising progress. The Foundation has recently received a $400,000 grant from the Charles A. Cannon Charitable Trust #1 in support of the CAMAT project. This transformative investment brings us closer to closing our funding gap and demonstrates strong confidence in the impact of this initiative.
As we continue our efforts to raise the remaining funds needed to fully equip and complete both facilities, we remain focused on building partnerships with donors, businesses, and community leaders who share our vision.
