The Vance-Granville Community College Foundation proudly announces the success of its 42nd Annual “Fore the Build” Golf Tournament, a two-day event dedicated to strengthening workforce development and expanding access to high-quality education and training opportunities across the region.
This year’s tournament raised over $53,000 in support of the College’s Building Futures: Empowering Students, Strengthening Communities initiative—a transformational effort focused on advancing economic mobility, removing barriers to education, and creating pathways into high-demand careers in advanced manufacturing and transportation.
The tournament brought together community leaders, industry partners, and supporters who share a commitment to investing in people, strengthening local economies, and building sustainable communities. Funds raised will directly support two state-of-the-art training facilities: the Center for Advance Manufacturing & Applied Technology and the Transportation Training & Technology Center.
“This event reflects the power of collective giving and shared purpose,” said Tanya Weary, Executive Director of The VGCC Foundation. “The proceeds from this tournament are helping us provide vital resources that will allow the College to expand its educational opportunities and promote successful outcomes for students, benefiting families, employers, and the broader community for years to come. This marks the first time in VGCC’s history that supporters can leave a lasting footprint in shaping the future of our region through these transformative facilities.”

Champions Sponsor: MR Williams
This sponsorship requires the winning team for the day to play a pre-selected hole at the conclusion of play, and if the hole is birdied, a $1,000 scholarship is established in the sponsor’s name for the upcoming fall semester. This year, the winning teams for both days birdied the hole, so The VGCC Foundation is able to award two $1,000 scholarships to deserving students. Thanks to the Mast Drug and Drake & Seymour Teams for excellent play and to MR Williams for sponsoring at this level.
