VGCC’s Dean’s List: Fall 1997
Cosmetology students at Vance-Granville Community College must have really hit the books during the fall semester as 41 of them, more than any other field of study, were among the 205 students earning Dean’s List for the semester which ended in December.
This is the first time a semester Dean’s List has been named at the college, which switched over from the fall to semester system beginning last September, said Fred H. Wilson Jr., dean of instruction, who announced the qualifiers.
To qualify for Dean’s List, a student had to maintain a 3.25 average and get no grade lower than “B” while carrying at least 12 semester hours.
A breakdown of the college’s academic divisions shows that the highest number of dean’s list students – 124 – came from technical programs. Forty-nine vocational students earned spots on the list, along with 27 from college transfer. In addition, four technical special students – those enrolled in curriculum classes but who are not seeking a degree or diploma – were cited.
One high school student, Colandra Tamekia Williams of Warrenton, also took the required number of college hours and performed well enough on them to make the VGCC Dean’s List.
