VGCC Offers Job Shadowing Opportunities

Barbara Smith, Career Center Coordinator, is encouraging students to participate in VGCC’s Job Shadowing program.

Job Shadowing is an educational experience for students to spend a designated amount of time, usually a half day, with an employee who serves as an occupational career model in the area of the student’s career interest. The student may participate in some hands-on activities.

The experience provides the student with the opportunity to ask questions and get a first hand look at daily on-the-job activities performed in his or her chosen career field.

Job Shadowing is also a way of finding out if you have made the right career choice. Unlike in years past, there are no longer specific days for job shadowing nor is job shadowing limited to one day a semester for all interested students. Now students may choose the day during the fall or spring semester that is convenient for them and the employer to plan their job shadowing opportunity.

Students may obtain an application on all four campuses any time during business hours. Main Campus students should stop by the Career Center, Building 4, Room 4248. Students at the satellite campuses should see the Campus Coordinator.
