Summer Training Opportunities Available at VGCC!

The Continuing Education Department at Vance-Granville Community College will host a variety of training opportunities this summer on all of our campus locations and online.

Our Occupational Healthcare Program provides training for those interested in careers such as Nurse Aide I, Nurse Aide II, Medication Aide, and Phlebotomy. We are offering courses this summer on all four campuses. Make sure you review the admission requirements prior to registering for classes.

Occupational Extension (OE) provides training to improve a professional’s skills and knowledge in a career field but also introduce new career fields, and develop marketable job skills to improve employment and promotional opportunities. The OE summer schedule is now available with many courses starting in May. Courses are available in Healthcare Administration (EHR, HUC, MAA, Intro to Med Terms, Ins. & Billing), Office Administration and Payroll, Notary Public, NC Auto Emissions and Safety Inspection, Cosmetology and Heavy Equipment Operator. Through our Emergency Medical Services Program, we offer a variety of EMT continuing education courses, such as CPR Recertification, Trauma, Special Needs and Pharmacology. Classes are available in May and June. You can view the schedule on our website:

The Fire & Rescue training classes are also available in evening and daytime schedules for current fire fighters. Must sign up at your fire station.

BLET – Basic Law Enforcement Training is now accepting packets and applications through our deadline of June 30. Classes begin August 15, 2019. BLET training is designed to provide students with essential skills for entry-level employment as law enforcement officers. You can review the admissions guidelines on our website:

Law Enforcement continuing education training will occur in August with Basic Radar and Radar Recertification courses.

Human Resource Development (HRD) will offer Employability Skills classes and Working Smart training, as well as a class for NC FAST Phase 1 for IT training for NC-DHHS.

Personal Enrichment for summer will include Alive@25, Adult Defensive Driving, Motorcycle Safety, and Painting.

The Continuing Education Division also offers monthly courses through Ed2go on a variety of topics.
