What is Title IX?

Title IX states that no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded form participation in, be denied benefit or, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.  It is more than just “the law that made school sports more equitable for girls and women.”  Title IX also prohibits sexual harassment, which includes acts of sexual violence, as a form of sex discrimination.

Vance-Granville Community College does not tolerate discrimination of any kind based on gender, sexual orientation, age, race, religion or ideology. If you feel you are experiencing discrimination or if you have been the victim of sexual harassment or sexual assault, the contacts listed below will be able to guide you and provide important resources.
