CURRENT PHOTO ID REQUIRED TO TEST!!!

The placement test is free to prospective and currently enrolled students.
A proctoring fee of $25 will be assessed for individuals requesting to test for other colleges or agencies.

All new curriculum students pursuing a certificate, diploma, or degree program are required to take a placement test prior to initial registration unless exempt by a waiver. Vance-Granville Community College uses the North Carolina Diagnostic and Placement assessment (NC DAP) developed specifically for the NC Community College System by Accuplacer and College Board. The NC DAP evaluates a student's current skills in reading, writing, and mathematics and is administered in two separate test sessions. Placement test scores are used for academic advising and correct course placement.

The good news is that you cannot fail! If test scores show the need to improve academic skills before entering college level courses, students will be given opportunities to build skills in the areas needed through developmental courses or with appropriate remediation through the Adult Basic Skills program.
