VGCC Training To Focus on Hospitality, Tourism Jobs

Vance-Granville Community College will offer special pre-employment training to residents of Warren County and the surrounding area, starting September 19.  Participants will receive instruction that will prepare them to apply for most entry-level positions in the hospitality/tourism industry.

In particular, the training has been designed to meet the needs of the Randy Parton Theater/Carolina Crossroads Music & Entertainment District, which is slated to open in Roanoke Rapids, NC, in 2007.  This pre-employment training is a customized program that is used as a screening tool before hiring applicants while providing skills enhancement training. The training is for educational purposes only and is not intended to guarantee employment.

Pre-employment training will include safety, quality, math and employability skills.  This class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 until 9 p.m. for 12 weeks at VGCC’s Warren County Campus, Building 4, Room 417.  The class will begin Sept. 19 and end Dec. 12.  The registration fee is $60.

The first 25 students, who live in Warren, Vance, Franklin and Granville counties, will receive scholarships to cover tuition costs.  To register for this training, contact Alice Eaves at (252) 257-1900.
