VGCC Student Earns National Coca-Cola $1,000 Scholarship
Bobby P. Hunter of Wake Forest, a Vance-Granville Community College student, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.
Through the Coca-Cola Two-Year Colleges Scholarship Program, the foundation awards 400 scholarships annually to students attending higher-education institutions granting two-year degrees. All recipients have demonstrated academic success and participated in community service within the past 12 months.
Hunter is enrolled in the Human Services Technology/Mental Health program at Vance-Granville. She has a 3.935 grade-point-average in her studies. She volunteers regularly in a nursing home and assisted living facility.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation is supported by the financial commitment of the Durham Coca-Cola Bottling Company, which services this area, and The Coca-Cola Company. Now in its sixth year of funding the Two-Year Colleges Scholarship Program, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has provided nearly $2.5 million in scholarships to students attending two-year colleges.
