VGCC South Campus Offers Two Exclusive Computer Classes

The South Campus of Vance-Granville Community College, like all of the college’s four campuses, offers a wide array of computer extension classes. However, two computer classes are taught only at South Campus, on N.C. 56 between Butner and Creedmoor.

Microsoft Publisher, a desktop publishing program, will be offered for the first time this fall in the South Campus Computer Center. It will be a day class of 12 hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 17 and 24.

Also, South Campus is the only location that Microsoft Works, which includes word processing, database and spreadsheets, is offered by VGCC. This is of interest to new computer owners because many new computers come with Works installed, said Ann Behar, coordinator of VGCC’s Computer Extension Program.

A wide variety of computer classes in the day, evenings and on weekends are offered at South Campus in the Computer Center opened in 1999. In addition, VGCC offers 84 computer classes online.

All the VGCC computer classes qualify the participant for continuing education units in technology, something that teachers in particular need, Behar said.

Interested persons may pick up a copy of the Computer Center Fall 2000 schedule from South Campus or call (252) 492-2061, ext. 3437, to have one mailed to them. The schedule is also posted on the VGCC web site at www.vgcc.edu.
