VGCC Schedules Drawing Class At Warren County Campus

Warren County native Wanda G. Satterwhite will instruct a new “Learning to Draw” class beginning Jan. 19 at Vance-Granville Community College’s Warren County Campus.

The class will be held for 10 weeks on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 and will run through March 31. It will be held in Room W-214 in Building 2 on the VGCC campus on Ridgeway Street in Warrenton.

Wanda Satterwhite says that drawing is the first step in learning to paint, and she encourages anyone who ever wished they could draw to enroll. “Everyone can learn to draw,” she said.

The instructor has a long list of artistic credits, including being a two-ti me recipient of North Carolina Grants for the Arts, numerous awards for her works, including “Best in Show” for her watercolors, acrylics, oils, charcoal and sculpture. Her works hang in government buildings, colleges, financial institutions and private collections in the United States and abroad. She is a member of the Kerr Lake Arts Society.

Satterwhite’s work can be seen locally at Oldtimer & Lily in Warrenton and at Allen’s Framework & Gallery in Henderson.

Beginning and experienced artists are welcome to the class. Students should provide a sketch pad, 11×14 or 9×12, and several Number 2 pencils.

Cost of the class is $37.50, and it is free to senior citizens 65 and older. To pre-register for the drawing class, call the VGCC Continuing Education office at (252) 738-3316.
