VGCC Offers Medication Aide Courses at Main Campus

Local residents have two opportunities in September to take a Medication Aide course at Vance-Granville Community College’s main campus in Vance County.The first class will be held over five consecutive days — Monday, Sept. 10 through Friday, Sept. 14, from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Registration for this class will be held on Aug. 27 at 3 p.m.The second class will be offered on Mondays and Tuesdays from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., starting Monday, Sept. 24 and ending on Monday, Oct. 15. Registration for this class will be held on Sept. 10 at 4 p.m.To register for the course, a student must have a high school diploma or GED and must be listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry as a CNA I in good standing. Students who successfully complete the course will be able to take a state exam and qualify to be listed on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry.Medication Aides pass medications in settings such as home-health agencies and skilled nursing facilities under the direction of a Registered Nurse.The cost for this course is $55, plus $9 for a textbook.For more information, call Julie Cooke at (252) 738-3366.
