VGCC Offers Conversational Spanish Class At Its Franklin County Campus

With the recent large increase in Spanish-speaking population, area residents are needing to learn the language more and more. Vance-Granville Community College has a course scheduled at its Franklin County Campus in Louisburg that will get you started in that direction.

“Conversational Spanish” will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Mondays, beginning June 4, for 10 weeks.

George Tyler, VGCC’s English-As-Second Language coordinator, said the course will basically be “a guide to learning Spanish. We cannot teach you to speak Spanish in 30 hours, but this class will concentrate on how to understand the language and how to pronounce Spanish words.”

The course will be valuable to those who speak no Spanish and those who studied it but who may have forgotten.

Cost of the course will be $55 plus the cost of a textbook. Interested persons should pre-register by calling the Franklin County Campus at 496-1567 or visiting the campus on N.C. 56 west of Louisburg.
