VGCC Offers Beginning, Intermediate Shag Classes

If you’ve wanted to learn shag dancing, or if you want to improve your skills before heading to the beach this summer, Vance-Granville Community College can help you out.

Beginning and intermediate shag dancing classes will be offered on the college’s main campus on Mondays, starting May 2 and running through June 27. Beginner classes will be from 7 to 8 p.m., and intermediate will take place the following hour. Classes will be held in the lower level of the Civic Center, Building 9.

Ronnie McMannen of Durham, who has taught dancing throughout the Triangle and who has taught shag dancing at VGCC the past couple of years, will be the instructor.

Cost of either beginning or intermediate classes is $35. For additional information and to pre-register, call the VGCC Continuing Education office at (252) 738-3316.
