VGCC Offers AutoCAD Classes On Granville, Franklin Campuses

Classes teaching the computer drafting and design tool used most worldwide will be held at Vance-Granville Community College’s South Campus in Granville County and Franklin County Campus this fall.

AutoCAD 2004 software is the 2D drafting and detailing and 3D design tool used by more designers worldwide than any other CAD software, said Ann Behar, coordinator of VGCC’s computer extension program. Used in a variety of professions such as engineering, architecture, manufacturing, and even landscaping and interior design, AutoCAD is a computer-assisted drafting program designed to let users quickly and easily create drawings and blueprints that used to take hours or days. Even more importantly, changes can be handled rapidly, Behar said.

In this class, students will learn how to create basic drawings and then build upon them. The class is designed for beginners with little or no drafting or computer experience.

Classes on the South Campus will start on Sept. 16, and meet on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30. The Franklin Campus class will start on Sept. 14 and meet on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:30. Both classes will be taught by Keith Johnson.
