VGCC names new head of Fine Arts and Humanities

Vance-Granville Community College instructor David Wyche has been named head of the college’s Fine Arts/Humanities department. A resident of Henderson, Wyche (pictured above) has taught at VGCC since 2005 and will continue teaching English and humanities courses.

Wyche’s department, part of the VGCC Arts and Sciences division , provides instruction in Spanish, art, music, drama, speech and humanities. These courses can be taken by students in many different curriculum programs to fulfill general education or elective requirements, and they also form part of the highly-regarded College Transfer program , in which students earn the first two years of a four-year degree.

Wyche has experience as a teacher of English and language arts at the middle school, high school, two-year college and four-year university levels. He served as a lecturer at North Carolina State University for six years. Wyche earned his bachelor’s degree in English at Appalachian State University and his master’s in English/Creative Writing at N.C. State.
