VGCC Day Care children learn about Fire Safety

Children enrolled in the Child Care Center on Vance-Granville Community College’s Main Campus recently learned about fire safety and fire trucks as part of October’s observance as Fire Prevention Month. Pictured above, Capt. Brandon Link, a firefighter with the City of Henderson Fire Department and Assistant Chief with the Watkins Volunteer Fire Department, teaches the “stop, drop and roll” technique to several young students, including (from left) Koy Billings of Henderson, Maci Satterwhite of Oxford, Trey Pittman of Henderson and Henry Hall of Oxford.

Link brought with him a fire truck from the Watkins department, which serves the area around the main VGCC campus, and he talked with students about smoke detectors and how the firefighter’s uniform works, among other topics. Link is also a VGCC graduate.
