VGCC Class Can Help Students Repair Bad Credit, Reduce Debt

Many people suffer from a bad credit report because of small mistakes, and this jeopardizes all their finances and leads to heavy debt loads. If you’re one of these, help is just around the corner in a class to begin Sept. 17 at Vance-Granville Community College.

Credit Repair/Debt Reduction will be held on Tuesdays from 6 to 9 p.m., beginning Sept. 17 and running six weeks to Oct. 29, on the main campus in Vance County.

Rasheed Chabwera, a representative of Personal Credit Solutions Inc. of Henderson, will teach the course. During the 18-hour course, he said participants will learn how to improve their credit reports by removing or repairing negative credit, how to negotiate with creditors, how to manage and reduce debt, why never to file bankruptcy, how to get the best interest rates on homes and cars, and many other ways to improve their financial lives.

Cost of the course is $50. For more information or to pre-register, call the VGCC Continuing Education office at 738-3316.
