VGCC Adds “Almost Amish” to Quilting Class

Longtime Vance-Granville Community College Quilting instructor Peggy Stocks is adding a new dimension to her classes. Stocks said she is excited to be incorporating “Almost Amish,” a book of unusual and unique quilting patterns. Starting Jan. 7, 2009, Stocks will teach Almost Amish patterns and a hand appliqué technique known as “Baltimore Album,” as well as traditional patchwork.

Both beginners and experienced quilters are welcome to join the classes, which last for eight weeks. Classes are available on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. until noon, Thursdays from 9 a.m. until noon, and Thursday evenings from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m. in room 5201 on the college’s main campus in Vance County.

The cost to register is $36, plus a $1 security/access fee.
