VFW LADIES AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2417 in Henderson presented an Academic Achievement Scholarship to Vance-Granville Community College on Sept. 13. VGCC President Randy Parker accepted the $3,000 down payment on the $6,000 endowment from Mary Grissom, center, auxiliary treasurer, and Joanne Ayscue, Scholarship Committee chair. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a former Armed Services member or family member of a military veteran who is enrolled in a Health Education program at the college and who lives in Vance, Granville, Franklin or Warren county. The first VFW Ladies Auxiliary scholarship will be awarded Sept. 22 at the annual Scholarship Day ceremony at Vance-Granville.
