TURTLE TIME

Sadie Gupton, left, and Monique Nash feel the hard shell of a box turtle brought to the Day Care Center at Vance-Granville Community College Jan. 30 by employees of the Museum of Life and Science in Durham. Three people from the Science Education Resource Center at the museum presented a “Meet the Turtles” program in which they read a story about a box turtle, talked about the animals, showed the children a box turtle and a water turtle, and led the children in making turtles out of Styrofoam bowls and colored tissue paper. Sadie is the daughter of Missy and Eddie Gupton of Henderson, and Monique is the daughter of Theodora Smith, also of Henderson.
