Turn Plastics To European Stone With VGCC ‘Faux Finishes’ Class

A continuing education class beginning April 11 at Vance-Granville Community College will teach participants to turn ordinary items into extraordinary-looking products.

Lelia Brigham will teach the Faux Finishes class on six Tuesday mornings, April 11-May 16, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Areas covered will include marbleizing, leather look, wood grain, metal look and gold leafing.

Brigham said students will learn how to get the look on European stone on ordinary plastic or wood items in the home, how to create the Old World effect of Spain, to produce several different rich grain looks of wood, to age new pieces to give them an old look, and how to give items an elegant look without spending great sums of money.

Cost of the course is $22.50, plus the cost of materials and supplies. To pre-register, call the VGCC Continuing Education department at (252) 492-2061, extension 316.
