STATE CHAMP

A new scholarship, the Hayden C. Bailey Family Memorial, has been established at Vance-Granville Community College. The Academic Achievement Scholarship, which will provide $500 each year to a deserving student, was funded by gifts from the Bailey family and memorial gifts at the time of Mr. Bailey’s death in June 1999. Mr. Bailey was the former owner and operator of Vance Furniture Co. on Garnett Street. In the picture, Craig Bailey, second from left, son of Hayden Bailey, presents the scholarship funds to Robert A. Miller, VGCC president. At left is Maria Bailey, Craig Bailey’s wife and the dean of Student Services at the college.
