Portrait Painting Class Begins This Month At VGCC

Vance-Granville Community College will offer another portrait-painting class, beginning March 16, on the main campus.

Sessions of three hours each will be held beginning March 16 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. for 10 weeks in Room 5230. Leslie Hall Johnson of Oxford will again teach the portrait class.

Johnson said that portrait painting has the reputation of being the hardest type of painting, and it is a very exacting art. “However, persons find they can do it if they work at it, and once they get into it, they find it very rewarding and don’t want to stop,” she said.

Total beginners are welcomed to participate in the classes, Johnson said, adding that more experienced painters are quick to help the newcomers.

Persons interested in participating in the next portrait-painting class may pre-register by calling the Continuing Education Department at VGCC at 492-2061, or they may register during the first class on March 16.

Johnson said participants may call her at home at 693-7432 for information on the art supplies they will need for the class.
