Local entrepreneurs can talk with Lawyers for free at VGCC Small Business Center event

Vance-Granville Community College’s Small Business Center will offer a new service in which area residents can receive free legal advice from lawyers who have expertise in small business matters. The Small Business Center is partnering with the North Carolina Lawyers for Entrepreneurs Assistance Program (NC LEAP) to present “Ask a Small Business Lawyer,” a full morning of free 30-minute, one-on-one private appointments with attorneys, on Thursday, Nov. 15. Meetings will take place in the Student Learning and Success Center in Building 1 on VGCC’s Main Campus in Vance County.

“The only requirements to take advantage of this opportunity are that you make an appointment and that you have a legitimate business issue to discuss with the lawyer,” said Tanya Weary, director of the VGCC Small Business Center. Appointment times are available between 9 a.m. and noon, and space is limited.

NC LEAP is a public service program of the North Carolina Bar Association Foundation. NC LEAP provides pro bono legal services to low-wealth entrepreneurs who are starting or expanding their businesses in North Carolina. Through one-on-one representation, community education, and self-help materials, NC LEAP empowers low-wealth business owners to build businesses in North Carolina that create jobs and improve communities.
