Line Dancing Classes Returning To VGCC

Tuesday evenings are again reserved for line dancing this fall at Vance-Granville Community College.

For the fourth consecutive year, Lori Forsythe will teach the popular continuing education class in which she will introduce a new dance every week for eight weeks. Classes will begin at 7 p.m. on Sept. 10 and run for an hour each Tuesday evening until Nov. 4 in Room 9111, the lower level of the Civic Center.

Some of the new dances on tap for this year’s class include the Cajun Skip, Tulsa Shuffle and Chattahoochee Hustle. The dances will be learned to the music of Mary Chapin-Carpenter, Alan Jackson, Lee Ann Womack, Hank Williams Jr. and others.

Line dancing is a fun way to exercise, similar to aerobics, Forsythe said, and students can use what they learn at parties, dances and other social occasions.

Fees are $30 for registration and $2 for parking and will be collected the first night of classes. VGCC officials said it is important to pre-register by calling the Continuing Education office at 252-492-2061, ext. 3316.
