Job Fair held at VGCC seeks to help Veterans
The Civic Center on Vance-Granville Community College’s main campus in Vance County was the site for the “Employ-A-Vet” Job Fair on Nov. 9, two days before the Veterans Day holiday. The fifth annual event, organized by the Vance, Granville and Warren County offices of the N.C. Division of Employment Security (formerly known as the Employment Security Commission) with the help of VGCC and other JobLink partners, was designed to help veterans of the U.S. armed services find jobs and resources.
Around 30 businesses and organizations were on hand to receive resumes and talk with potential future employees. VGCC staff members were also on hand to offer information on the college’s various job training programs that can help veterans and other area residents obtain skills and preparation for employment.
