Granville Industrial & Business Club Upgrade Scholarship

Leon Turner, right, executive director of the Granville County Economic Development Commission, presents $6,000 to Vance-Granville Community College President Robert A. Miller to upgrade a Granville Industrial & Business Club Academic Achievement Scholarship at VGCC to a Presidential Merit Award. This is one of six scholarships endowed at Vance-Granville by the GIBC, including three others in the club’s name and one named in honor of John K. Nelms, former executive director of the EDC and another named in honor of retired EDC secretary Betty S. Hicks. The GIBC Presidential Merit Award recipient each year will receive a $1,000 scholarship while the Academic Achievement Award recipients each get a $500 grant.
