Criminal Justice Club Provides Thanksgiving For Five Families

During the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday break, the Vance-Granville Community College Criminal Justice Club will be serving warm, nourishing meals to five needy families in four counties.

The club, advised by Angela Johnson, Program Head/Instructor of Criminal Justice Technology, is comprised of 75 members who are students pursuing an education within the criminal justice field.

“Club members donate canned goods or any other non-perishable food item towards the cause,“ Johnson said.

The club has provided Thanksgiving meals to needy families in the surrounding counties for the past seven years, averaging five families each fall.

Presently, they are selling candy as a fundraiser with all proceeds going towards their needy family project.

Anyone wishing to make a donation of a non-perishable food item may do so through Nov. 21. Items can be dropped off in Building 5, Room 5239. Assistance is available for any items requiring pick-up.

Individuals who know of needy families that might benefit from this project are asked to contact Angela Johnson at ext. 3226.
