Computer Classes Begin Soon at VGCC South Campus

Vance-Granville Community College has scheduled several of its popular computer-related classes starting in January on the college’s South Campus, located on N.C. 56 between Creedmoor and Butner.

The “Beginner’s Guide to Computers & the Internet” course will be offered twice at the South Campus. One class, with instructor John Clark, runs on Mondays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., January 24 through February 28, 2011, while the other is held on Wednesday evenings from 6 until 10 p.m., January 12 through February 15.

An evening course will introduce students to QuickBooks, a powerful accounting system for small businesses. In this course, students will be given an opportunity for hands-on practice. David Richardson will teach the course Thursday nights from 6 until 10 p.m., January 13 through February 17.

The Microsoft PowerPoint presentation software will be the subject of a course taught on Fridays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., January 14 through January 28.

Another class will focus on Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, two of the most popular and widely used components of the Microsoft Office suite, which were extensively revamped for the 2007 versions. The course is offered twice, both on Wednesdays, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., January 26 through March 2 (with instructor John Clark), and the second from 6 until 10 p.m., February 23 through April 4. Clark will also teach a more advanced course on the spreadsheet program, Excel Level II, on Tuesdays from 6 until 9 p.m., March 15 through April 19.
