Brigham Establishes Academic Achievement Scholarship In Memory Of Biology Teacher

Lelia Brigham presents $6,000 to Vance-Granville Community College President Robert A. Miller to establish the Cecil L. Chacon Jr. Memorial Academic Achievement Scholarship. Chacon was a biology teacher in Vance County Schools and was industry education coordinator when he was killed in June 1992. While a teacher, Chacon worked summers at Kerr Lake Recreation Area where he met and became friends with Brigham’s late husband, John Brigham. Chacon was also a part-time instructor at Vance-Granville Community College.
