Autumn Arts Entries on Display At VGCC Through Dec. 2

Entries in the Kerr Lake Art Society 30th Annual Autumn Arts Juried Art Show have been judged and are on display at Vance-Granville Community College.

The artwork will be on display for public viewing on the second floor of Building 7 on the college’s main campus in Vance County until Dec. 2. Viewing hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays.

Jennifer Patterson of Littleton took the Best in Show award of $200 for her painting of “The Fishing Hole.”

M.D. Taylor of Oxford won first place in the painting category with “Everglades Nat’l Park, Fla. #2,” second went to Alma Burke of Franklinton for “Rooster with an Attitude,” and Cheryl Hight of Louisburg took third for “Serenity.”

First place in other media was won by William Moseley of Littleton with “Red Trees.” Russell Watlington of Yanceyville took second in this category with “Ground Leaves,” and third went to Jean Williams of Henderson’s “Summer Fun.”

First place awards were $125, second place won $75, and $50 went to third place winners.

Honorable mention ribbons went to Clora Wilkerson of Henderson, Ruth Cole of Franklinton, Linda M. Cash of Oxford, Alma Burke of Franklinton and Wanda Satterwhite of Henderson in painting. Other media honorable mentions went to Wilson Vaughan of LaCrosse, Va., Keith Strange of South Boston, Va., Jim Stevenson of Henderson, Jeff Humber of Halifax, Va., and Nicholas Elmes of South Boston, Va.
